We just finished setting up a windows 2000 server box.
Everything was working fine, and for the most part its
running all right.
Problem:
After getting everything back on line, all web sites
running properly, etc., all critical security updates
installed, etc., we downloaded the most recent Internet
Explorer update.
Now we can not view folders in windows explorer (its just
a grey box), nor can we open the add/remove software item
in control panel. The closest thing to describing this
problem in the Knowledge Base that I can find is article
265829, which pretty much describes the problem that can
occur in windows 2000 when you install IE6.0. However, the
solution described requires that I reboot the computer to
safe mode. Since I am administering the computer remotely
through Terminal Services, I cannot do this.
Would anyone have any ideas as to how I might be able to
correct this problem?
