hi,

I use Windows XP Home Edition. I do not have the winaspi
driver installed on my system. I m getting a peculiar
problem such that my CD-RW combo drive is not able to
read DVDS, nor write CDs, though it can read VCDs & data
CDs.

Is this problem arising because i do not have the winaspi
installed on my laptop?

Please help.

Umm, normally I dont think CD writers
can read (or play) DVD's.

You need a DVD player.

And if you're trying to copy DVD's you
need a DVD burner, not a CD burner.

It wont be able to copy the whole DVD.

What program are you using for burning
CD's with? Nero/CD creator/directCD
dont usually need ASPI. Some shareware
CD burning programs DO need ASPI.

If you need ASPI, you can get the drivers
from
http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/su...no&language=English+US&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe

These drivers seem to be the latest ASPI
drivers out at the mo.
