WINAMP Update?

Apparently one of my browsers uses Winamp because I don't remember
intentionally installing it. In any event, it's now calling for an update.
The link takes me to a download site but I can't find any instructions on
what to do. I'm not into audio/visual tools except when needed to read or
listen to news so I'm pretty green here. Am I supposed to uninstall what's
on my machine now or will the update automatically handle itself? I recall
getting into a mess with a Symantec product (Systemsworks) a few years back.
The following year, the upgrade came with clear notice that it wasn't
necessary to uninstall the old. But that wasn't the case the prior year and
did it ever turn out messy. I don't want to chance it here. Particularly for
something I rarely use.

Just uninstall it from Control Panel if you don't use it. WMP9/10 will play
pretty much anything WinAmp plays.
Usually, when an application comes with an auto-update facility, it's
usually safe to use it. Anything system critical may be best to have a
system restore checkpoint if you're uncertain.
