winamp cddb "service"

hi

i'm using winamp 5.03a. when playnig back .wav and mp3 files it's great and
i really like the layout and the ease of adding files and folders, but
whenever i use it to play back a CD it opens a CDDB window...i'm assuming
this is something to do with an audio track identification system ,but i
find it pretty anoying, even after clicking "cancel" it takes a few seconds
to close (most of the music i listen to is non-mainstream so there is never
any info about it anyway)...i've looked through winamps settings and can't
find any way to turn this "feature" off...anyone know of a way to disable
it, or where i can download an earlier version that doesn't include this
annoyance/feature

In Winamp 2x, one goes to "Setup" and tells it one has no internet
connection. I would think there is a similar option in the newest (but not
necessarily the greatest).

You can get any early version at Winamp Heaven. My personal preferance is
v2.5e with a decoder (in_mp3.dll) from v2.22 - it is an FhG decoder.

Open up Winamp, go to the Settings, go to the Input section under
Plugins. Once there, select the Nullsoft CD/LineIn plug-in, select
Configure, and uncheck "Use CDDB".
