I need XP or 2000 for my schooling and am wondering if I can change or upgrade from Windows98. On my computer it says we have Win98/2000 as our operating system, AMD-K6 2/500 MHz processor, 184 MB memory. The computer was bought in 1999, it is a HP. Please help. Thank you

Jill;
The first step is to verify your computer is ready for Windows XP:

Greetings --

You'll have to check HP's web site to verify that PC's
Win2K/XP-compatibility and the availability of device drivers. Even
so, however, be aware that it will be very slow with either OS
installed.
