win98 won't access winxp share

I'm on a domain with about 20 systems. One system is
win98 and the reast are winxp pro. The server is 2000.
Both systems in question have full admin rights. I'm
sharing the c drive on one of the winxp system, firewall
turned off. All other winxp systems can access the
share, but the win98 system cannot.

The win98 system can access all other systems shares,
including folders on the server.

Can anyone tell me how to make it so the win98 system can
access the winxp pro share?

Setup a user account in the W98 machine that has
sufficient rights to access the share on the WinXp Pro.
Make sure that both machines have same user/password
associated with the share.

Do you mean I should set this up in control panel under
users? I wasn't aware there were permission setting
there? Or is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Exact, in W98, control panel, users...
Add a user/password here that has sufficient rights on
the WXP Pro share....
Should work fine after that (requires reboot of the W98
machine if I remember correctly)
Sorry for the confusion, I should have made myself more
clear.

Hi,
If Xp Machine is using the NTFS file system, then xp can see the win98, but
the win98 (fat32 file system)can not see the xp machine.
The only way, is to change the format of the xp machine to fat32.

Sorry, but this is not correct.
When accessing a file share over a network this has
nothing to do with it!

OK, then, the permissions are established on the xp
system? Do I do that in the user section also?
Additionly, the win98 user is alreay logging in
as "user:tom / pass: captain" can this user not be made to
access the xp system?

That's not true. My FAT32 Windows ME machine can read my XP Pro (NTFS)
shares with no problem.
