I have windows 98 and windows XP home connected, but I can't access XP
machine from 98, or vice versa. I got both computers to show in same
workgroup.

Is there any simple way to share internet connection from Win98 machine with
that WinXP machine so it could access internet?

My main pc died, so i digged out old win98 box and connected it to internet
with isdn card and I'd rather use my laptop (winXP) access internet, than
use this ancient PC because this is so sloooow. on everything :)

I would apreciate any ideas that might help me to network these PC's in way
i get to internet with laptop :)

Hi NoOne, Using Netgear 814 router, I've been able to connect my
Win98SE desktop and WinXPPro laptop so that both recognize my DSL
connection. (The DSL modem connects THROUGH the router to the Desktop
CPU) In other words, DSL line enters from the telephone outlet into a
Netgear router plug. A second line funs from the router to the desktop
CPU) The Laptop has a high Rate Wireless (LAN MiniPC Combo Card)
installed. Through all this, I am able to access the internet from
either computer.

There is information on "installing a remote desktop communications
client" at:
<http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/gomobile/remotedesktop/remoteclient.asp>

Also at: <www.wireless.ucr.edu/xpprint.htm> - info on wireless printing
setup procedures.

Also at: <http://computer.howstuffworks.com/phone-network.htm/

(look for "howstuffworks" on google for lots of other "stuff")

NONE of these have enabled me to access my printers or files - but they
Did help me get setup up for internet access and THAT's a PLUS!!

Another site that purports to describe how to "set up file and print
sharing in Windows using Microsoft Networking components) is at:
<http://www.richmond.k12.ga.us/z_default_files/file_print_sharing_tutorial.htm>
This involves "using NETBEUI" protocol and binding file and print
sharing to it. Don't understand much about it myself, but maybe it will
be helpful to you.
