I am upgrading a Gateway from Win98 to Win2000 pro. from a
CD.
At some point I said yes to the prompt confirming the
FAT32 to NTFS conversion.
Everything went fine. It went through a major portion of
the setup process and after restarting a few times it got
to the following final phase of the setup:
1. Installing Devices
2. Networking Settings
3. Installing Components
4. Final tasks
a. Installing start menu items
b. Registering Components
c. Upgrades programs and system settings
d. Save Settings
e. Remove Temporary Files
The install process now does a continuous loop starting at
approx. 20% into installing step 4c and then back to step
1.
It seems to access the floppy drive just before restarting
the machine.
It then says "You need the NTFS to run this system and
NTFS is running. System setup restarting." ???????
I have a setuperr.log file if it helps too.
Thanks very much!
