I have sometimes at the start of my PC the message

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has met a problem and must be
closed (a rencontré un problème et doit
être fermé.)
then date and time of the problem are shown
(Suit la date et l'heure du problème (souvent la dernière fois qu'on a )

Is this a virus ?

Maybe, you can check the System Logs and give a better error message.

Duane :)

It could be. That message is attached to SVCHOST.EXE.

There are many infectors that use this name. Depending on the su\ituation, they may cause
problems with the Generic Host Process .

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe

It is a self-extracting ZIP file that contains the Kixtart Script Interpreter {
http://kixtart.org Kixtart is CareWare } three batch files, five Kixtart scripts, one Link
(.LNK) file, this PDF instruction file and two utilities; UNZIP.EXE and WGET.EXE. It will
simplify the process of using up to 3 different Anti Virus Command Line Scanners to remove
viruses and various other malware.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode. This
way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor’s web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Exit the menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help
file.

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE and/or FTP.EXE to go
through your FireWall to allow them to download the needed AV vendor related files.

Did you install the security update MS05-012? If so, this could cause
the problem. MS released a fix to correct this. It's a good idea to
check your system for possible infection also.

I applied the process. McAfee found 5 potentially unwanted program v- (the
rest could not be read because the cmd window could not be extended)
In the 4 cases the file or process has been deleted
the first folder which contained the unwanted files were
HTM.c.nt.IE5\9LRYC9V7\auth_user[1].htm
Other 4 are similar names.
I can send the analysis report if wanted.

thanks a lot

| cant get this multi thing to work in x-p
| sorry

Please explain WHERE the problem is and what you are or not experiencing. As noted, you may
have to disable the FireWall or allow FTP.EXE and/or WGET.EXE to go through the FireWall to
download the needed scanner files.

I am very interested in your feedback to make improvements on the code or useability of the
utility.
