Help ! ! !
I have a Dell PowerEdge Server that its only role is to
server about 20 print Q's. About once a week the spooler
service "hangs" and sends this error over and over to the
event log "Win32 error code returned by the print
processor: 50 (0x32). " From what I can see this
problem should of been fixed in SP3, I have SP4
installed. When the service "hangs" users are still able
to send print jobs, but the jobs are never sent to the
print device. %90 of the time, if I restart the spooler
service the problem clears and users are able to print
again. Here are the system specs.
Dell PowerEdge 2400 Dual PIII 800mhz
1025 MB RAM
PERC 2/DC controller with RAID 5 w/spare over 4 disks
35.g GB Total with 30.5GB free
Windows 2000 Server SP4
Ie 6.0 SP1
WinZip 8.0
Adobe Acrobat 5.5
Veritas Netbackup DataCenter 4.5 client
3 HP printers Windows Drivers
6 Cannon Printers Latest Drivers
12 RICOH Printers Latest Drivers

Since you seem to have your drivers in the best shape possible, I would
look to the Port Monitors as the next possible culprit:
From KB article 260142:
---------------------------------------
Check the following registry key for third-party monitors. Remove any
non-default monitors:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors
The default port monitors are:
AppleTalk Printing Devices (When Services for Macintosh is installed)
BJ Language Monitor
Local Port
PJL Language Monitor
Standard TCP/IP Port
USB Monitor
Windows NT Fax Monitor
----------------------------------------
You can just delete the keys for the 3rd-party monitors (of course,
save-out the key first)

Another possibility is a faulty 3rd-party print processor:
Make sure that all printers are using WinPrint as their processor (on the
Advanced tab of the printer properties)

Jason,

Thank you for your reply, I did have a 3rd party monitor
installed and I have backedup/removed the key, with no
ill effects yet. I will let you know if this was the
answer. I verifyed that all printers are using WinPrint
as the print processor.
