I can successfully authenticate to the wlan via PEAP\MSChapV2 on an XP client, but from a similarly configured 2kpro sp4 client, I never receive an authentication prompt. Is there additional configuration required on 2k? I've enabled RASTLS logging, but that data doesn't tell me much

Hi there,

Are there any error being logged on your Windows 2000 IAS (RADIUS) server when the client fails to authenticate? How about on the client?
Is the 2Kpro client able to communicate with the WAP without any problems?
Take a look a look at the following KB for some general information on peap support:
Using 802.1x Authentication on Computers Running Windows 2000 WGID:331

Hello,
Do you get prompted for authentication on a wired connection? There could be a corrupted network component if not.
Consider removing and reinstalling the "Client for Microsoft Networks" component to see if that helps

I have enabled PEAP/MSCHAPv2 under Authentication TAB, so Q313664 is NA. The 2kpro client does not actually fail to authenticate, it simply never
prompts for credentials. An Xp client on same hardware prompts from credentials.

Sergio and HJS - I am seeing the exact same behavior on two different Win2k machines - both brand new installs with SP3 and the 802.1x client hotfix.

I can login fine but if I happen to type the login credentials incorrectly, then the machine stops responding to the EAP-Request/Identity packets from the authenticator.

Seems to either be a REG setting or a bug - ideas?
