Win2k3 RRAS and DNS

I have a home network with Win2k3, RRAS, DNS, DHCP, and AD. My internet
interface obtains a DHCP address from my ISP. It used to obtain an address
automatically on my Microsoft wireless router, and was stable. Now that my
2k3 server is the router, I loose the IP address almost once a day. I get
event id 1003, ipconfig /renew does not renew - I have to either reboot or
disable then reenable the Internet interface NIC card to get a new IP. The
lease duration is 4 hours. Any ideas what would cause this?

Also, I have DNS installed and appears to be working for my LAN clients.
However, when I go into the DNS console, I do not see any caching of DNS
entries. I have DNS configuring with forwarding lookup to my ISP's DNS
server and DHCP is configuring the client PC's with my LAN nic's IP address
for DNS resolution. The clients are logging in with AD credientials and they
are resolving names on the net, but it just doesn't look right in DNS
console. I forget from my class where the resolved web addresses show (I
have SOA and NS records in DNS, and client PC's are showing in under my
domain name, but I don't see any other domains cached).

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

many issues here.
1. "I loose the IP address almost once a day": you mean the pubic IP?
2. what do you get if using nslookup?
3. it is better to post the result of ipconfig /all so that we have more
details about the settings.

Dear Joe:

On your VIEW menu at the top in the DNS mmc,
select advanced and then you will see the cache zone
which contains the dns lookups you/your clients made.

a really good newsgroup for dns is microsoft.public.win2000.dns.

good luck
