I just upgraded my primary DNS server from Win2k to Win2k3 (it is also the
Domain controller).
I have a secondary DNS server that runs on Win2k.

Since the upgrade, my Win2k3 DNS server cannot resolve certain addresses,
such as:
MX record for AOL
finance.yahoo.com
mail.yahoo.com
MX record for earthlink.net

But, my Win2k DNS server can resolve it. I was about to upgrade my
secondary DNS server to Win2k3, but at this point, it's the only thing I can
relay on that is working 100% It seems like the the Win2k3 DNS server works
find for 99% of the lookups, but not others.

I do not use forwarders on either of my DNS servers.

Has anyone else heard of this problem?

Thanks

David

This is a common issue with Win2k3 DNS behind a router or firewall that does
not support EDNS extensions.

Hope This Helps

In addition, I would recommend using forwarders as well. Will be much more
efficient.
