Win2K won't load drivers for PCMCIA network cards

I have installed win2k on a Compaq Presario model 1200.
Everything except the PCMCIA port works fine. When I plug
in either of two Netgear brand cards, Windows detects them
and prompts for a driver disk, then summarily rejects every
driver thrown at it.

Even though Windows reports no conflicts, I'm beginning to
suspect the PCMCIA driver.

Any Suggestions?

I think the problem is the Netgear cards. Sometimes it's like a
nightmare to get them work. Which models do you have? You could try the
latest driver from their official web-page. To see if there are any
problems with your pcmcia controller take a look at ist properties in
the device manager. But I don't think so, since i "notices" that you
insert a pc-card, isn't it?
