Hi All,
This is my first posting so please , be gentle..
I have an ASUS motherboard with a Celeron 2.4Ghz CPU and
256MB of RAM and had windows 2k pro installed on a Seagate
18G SCSI HDD.
Yesterday, I upgraded my pc and replaced my celeron with a
P4 2.4Ghz CPU. That was the only change that I made.
I wanted to re install windows 2k once I had this new CPU
installed and so inserted my win2k origional cd. After the
licence agreement, I delete the old win2k partition (NTFS)
and ask the setup to create a new partition and format
using NTFS. The format gets to 100% and then gives the
following error.
Setup was unable to format the partition. The disk may be
damaged. Make sure the drive is switched on and properly
connected to your computer. If the disk is a SCSI disk,
make sure your SCSI devices are properly terminated.
Consult your computer or SCSI adapter documentation for
more information.
You will have to select a different partition for Windows
2000. Press ENTER to continue.
Of the following that I have tried to fix it, Nothing I
have done works:
- new SCSI HDD
- changed and checked jumper settings on MB
- checked and tried different CPU frequency settings
- checked SCSI termination
- re-seated SCSI card
Could anyone please send me suggestions to
(e-mail address removed)?
Thanks in advance for any help.
