My windows 2000 server s/p 4 gives me a ntldr file missing
press Ctrl-alt-del to restart. When I boot from the W2k
cd, I get to the point where I choose R for repair or
Enter for a clean install and I get the error setup cannot
continue. no hard drive found. I think the problem is that
I set a second partition on the boot hard drive as active,
no letter name given to the second partition. C: is the
boot partition. I have now read that you can't have two
active partitions on the boot hard disk. I have a good
back up but I can't get the server to boot to dir serv.
restore mode. HELP

I know of two ways to set an active partition:
- Use PQMagic. This is my preferred option, because of its total
flexibility.
- Boot your machine with a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com, then
run fdisk.exe. It may let you restore the active flag on drive C:.

In the meantime you can boot your server with a floppy disk.
Format a disk on any Win2000 PC, then copy these hidden
files to it:
c:\ntldr
c:\ntdetect.com
c:\boot.ini
