Win2k searches at start

I haven't actually got to the machine yet, but i have been advised of a
machine where the moment it boots to any form of GUI, it immediately
runs the search tool, although it's not clear what is being searched
for.

The user advises me he can't close search ...

Any known viruses or malware that i can begin looking for that might be
causing this?

Could it Microsoft Ofiice Fast find re-indexing ?
