OK, where can i get a copy of BOOT.INI, NTDLR, and
NTDETECT for WinXP professional addition? I know where
BOOT.INI goes, but where should NTDLR and NTDETECT go?
Thanks,
Bryan

Boot the XP-Cdrom and from the recovery console command prompt run;
fixboot
to repair the boot sector.

Didn't work. I put the XP CD in, did the recovery console,
said it re-recorded the boot sector, re-booted. Same error
when I select WINXP Pro for an OS.. (something about not
being able to load an WIN2K file etc, select R to repair
on the win2K setup, bla bla bla. Is there a manula way to
do this? I know all my info is still there for winXP.... I
used to really like WIN2K.. not anymore...this is
ridiculous.... LOL.. please help!!!

ok, the error is (not verbatim) : Windows 2000 cannoy
start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\winnt\system32\config\system

You can attempt to fix this by inserting the win2000 cd
and selecting r from the first screen.

This doesn't make sense because this error comes up when i
am trying to load winXP from the OS boot menu.... and it
doesn't specify a file that is "missing or corrupted"

Thanks,
Bryan

You don't provide much in the way of details. Are both OS's installed to the
same partition? If so then best to blow it away and start a new install.
