I have a user running 2K Pro and Office 2000 on a standard
desktop (P4, ample RAM, recent Intel MB/chipset) who
cannot print (or even print-preview) web content of any
kind. The Print Preview pane pops but is blank (white).
Clicking on Print from the File menu or clicking on the
print icon causes nothing to happen. She can print other
Windows apps but not from IE or Outlook (HTML mail).
Installed printers are nominal: one local inkjet and
several network printers; one on a JetDirect box (the
default) and another on a Netport server. There is also a
printer icon for Snagit! (ver. 6), a screen capture
program.
Because of her department (marketing), Outlook is usually
bulging but not breaking at about 1.3 to 1.5 GB of
messages and attachments (the department passes around a
lot of image files, multimedia, web pages, etc.).
Norton Corporate Edition is up-to-date, as are Windows
Critical Updates and Service Packs. A safe-mode scan has
been done to be sure. The set has also been scanned for
adware.
No other errors or problems that I have heard about.
I'm thinking about adding an AGP video card to eliminate
the Intel onboard video subsystem as a possible culprit.
That said, similiar if not identical hardware platforms
are in use around the company with no hint of a similiar
problem.
I'm looking for general suggestions based on similiar
experiences others may have had. Thanks in advance! -D
