Mr. Newt

Hi all,
I have a win2k pro box and would like to set it up as a VPN server. I have
tried to make this work and believe I have not properly installed something.
The computer has access to the company lan and internet, so that part is
okay.
Going to: network,
make new,
accept incoming,
only shows parallel port connection.
I only have one nic on this box, but believe this should be no problem as I
have done the same on WinNT4.0. Could anybody tell me what I'm missing?
Thanks.
Robert

That's OK. Just keep going and select the "Allow VPN connections" (or
whatever the exact wording is). This will set up the WAN miniport for the
VPN client to use.

Bill,
Thanks for the reply. I have done that but it does not show the wan
miniport in the list (and also shows as unconnected). I did another setup
as a client and the wan miniport shows up. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Robert

WAN miniport won't show up in the list. Just ignore this list and click Next. On the screen that follows you will the option to accept
incoming VPN connections. Once wizard is complete, you will a Accept Incoming Connections adapter in the LAN and Dial-up
connections folder. This only accepts a single inbound connection though. If more are need, a Windows 2000 server will be
necessary.

Thank you,
