Try this fews tricks:
when you reach the logon screen type username (e.g
administrator),leave the password text blank and press
enter or clikc login, try it on all account you have on
your machines. (This will work if your kids have reset the
password to blank)
Try it on your guest account. Geust account is one of
the in-built account the ships with windows. Or if you
know the guest password and the account have not been
disable you can login as guest. If you can login as a
guest, you are as good as the administrator if you know
what to do.
If your machine is part of a domain, you can boot it to
the login screen and use any machine that is part of the
same domain to reset your password.

I suggest you create a restricted account for your child.
so they can play without causing damage. and also suggest
you never leave your laptop logged in as yourself when
your child can play with it, parents computers and
children 101

and as far as your password goes, read the following.
Q321305 How to Log On to Windows XP If You Forget Your
Password
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-
US;Q321305

http://securityadmin.info/faq.htm#password

Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password
blank.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel and
delete/change the
password.

You do not need to reinstall if you forgot the admin or
any other password.

There is a boot disk you can download at:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

that will let you reset the password of any account on
NT4, Windows2000 or
XP.

Just follow all the default settings which are for the
admin account.

For an Win2k AD domain controller, you need to do more
than that:

If your that frustrated with these questions, then don't
respond, leave it for one with more patience.
