Having just had a major system crash I'm now in the process of
re-installing from scratch. Unfortunately, my install CDs are quite
old (original release) and when I do this I have to go through *all*
the updates to get a decent system ... which takes most of the day.

I seem to recall some reference here to sites with info on creating a
new install CD ... using the files on the original CD, merging in the
updates/fixes and then writing a new CD.

Can anybody point me to some of these sites? I'd like to update with
as many fixes as possible - IE6 and SP4 for sure, but the more, the
better.

That looks like something. My only concern is that I had the idea in
the back of my mind that the IE6 update had to be done *before* SP4.
If this is true, then slipstreaming SP4 without IE6 wouldn't actually
help.

Anyone know if this is correct?

(Certainly, the sequence is IE6 then SP4 when you use Windows Update)

It may depend on yr initial version of Win2K, on mine slipstreaming to SP4
installed IE 5.5, as I said there is another entry you have to make, on the
'new disk' to include IE 6.
There is no problem in installing Win2k slipstreamed to SP4 then updating,
to IE6
I've just done it
