The following applies to all seven of our workstations:
We recently began utilizing the "comments" and "subject"
columns in the right hand pane in windows explorer quite
frequently throughout the day. In the beginning when we
entered text into these fields we had no problem labeling
three or four files before explorer would crash and we
would have to start the program again. As time went by we
are lucky if we can label one file before explorer
crashes. Many times just restarting explorer does not
work, it takes a complete shut down, normally, or with
ctrl+alt+del if necessary. This is very annoying as we
utilize these fields very frequently. We utilize a very
reliable "hardware" firewall, which is integrated with our
Mcafee anti-virus software. Mcafee is updated at the very
least, once per week. I have done a scan for viruses on
all stations and none are found. All workstations are
regularly updated with the latest "fixes" & service packs
from the Windows Update website.
I have seen numerous posts about explorer crashing with as
many different scenarios as there are postings, but none
of them have described our scenario.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
