Win2k pro and mulit processors

I just installed win2k pro on a quad processor machine with 8 gig of RAM
and 4 CPUs. It only sees 2 of the 4 processors, is there a way to get
it to see all 4? As well as all 8 gig of RAM?

Get win2k server. Pro is for workstations.
 
Windows 2000/XP Pro support a maximum of 2 processors (single or
multi-core) and 4GB memory. For example, Windows 2000 can support 2
Dual core processors which would in effect be like 4 processors, the 4
processors would (should) show in your device manager, it cannot however
support 4 processor sockets, 2 sockets maximum.

In order to support 4 processor sockets you will have to use one of the
server operating systems, Server 2000 and Server 2003 support 4
processor sockets. However, in order to use 8GB memory you will have to
use Server Enterprises Edition or Server 2003 x64 (64 bit) version.

looks like I will be putting Linux on that machine

The question that comes to my mind is "What else but a Server would
actually need and use 4 processors and 8GB of RAM?"

This is not exactly a board for the "average" home user, even very
demanding workstations don't generally have such "heavy" boards. In
other words it's a server board, there are few applications that need
and can use all the power in a board like that.

I hope you don't leave the machine on 24/7 because the power bill will
reflect a marked increase in consumption! On the other hand, if you
live in a cold climate the machine may serve double duty, heating your
house as well as filling your computing needs. :-)
