I guess i got a virus...Because i started my computer one
day and it automatically asked me for the win98 product
key...which i dont have anymore...so I got my aunts win2k
cd and put it in my CDROM to do a clean install...but it
just keeps going to the win98 produce key screen ...and
doesnt read the cd ..how do i get passed this and get
win2k on my harddrive?...can i go through the command
prompt?

Possibly set the boot order in cmos setup to CD-Rom first in boot sequence.
Also look for the keystroke (if necessary) at POST to force boot from CD-Rom
drive or check your mb/pc manual for instructions. To do a clean install,
either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set of four
install disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the
\bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or
makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.
