I have a 3 yo dual boot athlon 1100 with 2 hdd's, each running win2k. Has
768 meg of ram. Recently, the pc has begun hanging when booting 1st thing
in the morning, regardless of the hdd selected. Usually gets about half way
through the "starting windows" line of blue dots at bottom of the full
screen win2k splash screen, though occasionally it will lock when the next
screen appears (small win2k logo in the middle of an otherwise blank
screen). I have to pull the plug & reboot, so far it has started each time
on this reboot. I have run scandisk on each drive, & have tried replacing
the hdd cable, & have tried disabling the "quickboot" option in BIOS to
allow the hdd's more time to spin up, nogo. System originally had ME, runs
FAT file system, boots from the original hdd, c. Generally I operate from
the newer/large d drive, but again the trouble exists regardless of drive
selected.
TIA
