Win2k Group Policy -> fails!

We are running a test Win2k Adv server (with SP4) domain controller. We are unable to understand why group policies applied to the users (within organizational units) stops working after 24 hours or so. For example no user settings are applied (folder redirection, wallpapers etc.) to the Win2k Pro users. It works again when the server is restarted. Failure of the server is assocaited with failure of the DHCP server (installed in the same machine). I had configured to restart all critical services (including the DHCP server) in service control manager (it looks like DHCP refuses to restart automatically)

Is it necessary to restart Mircrosoft Windows Servers everyday? Just asked, I do not have much experience with Windows..

Evenlog shows ONLY the following error messages (repeated 3-4 times), whenever the server fails
Event Type: Erro
Event Source: DCO
Event Category: Non
Event ID: 1001
Date: 23/01/200
Time: 11:42:08 A
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTE
Computer: WIN2K-TEST-DC
Description
The server {1BE1F766-5536-11D1-B726-00C04FB926AF} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

This sounds like DNS is written all over it. My assumption is that if DHCP
is running on the DC, then DNS is also? If DNS fails or cannot be contacted,
GPOs will not function or apply.

Hello I'm glad that you come to us with this, is absolute not some thing you
should accept. Some thing is wrong. How ever when the Group Policy try to
refresh at the regular intervals. and when DHCP and DNS is down this is not
possible because there is no connection to the server or the domain. If
there is few more errors post it in microsoft.public.windows.server.general
or microsoft.public.win2000.general.

Yes, even i think so - it must have something to do with the DNS server, because whenever (when group policies are not working) I try to add a user to a security group it says something like: END POINT NOT FOUND... But in the event log there is no DNS errors are listed. From the event log, it appears that DNS is running fine. (At this point I do not understand why DNS server should fail?). It is difficult to diagnose Microsoft DNS server, just can't make out how things are related to each other. (BIND seems to be clean in that)

Further I'm running DHCP and DNS on the DC and DHCP is configured to automatically register machine name to the DNS server

Thanks
