Hi, currently I have win2k installed. I want to format
all of it and install win2k again from scratch.

Could someone please provide in detail the steps to
follow:

Furthermore, how do I make a boot or startup disk for
win2k?

Can the win2k cd work as a boot cd??

Thank you,

I would boot from the CD myself and then when it asks you
what partition you wish to install to, delete the ones you
want gone and create a new one.

Make sure you Bios settings are set for CD boot as first.

Note, I usually caculate the size of swap space I want and
deduct that from the size of partition I want to install
2k to when creating the install partition. After install
I create a partition from the left over space and format
it, set it to drive z. Then I add the size swap file I
want to drive z (less 5Mb of the total size of drive z)
and delete the swap space on c. this does away with the
accordian effect the default swap file creates. 6 months
down the road you performace will not be shot to heck by
the swap file being slivered all over drive c. Old trick
from my unix days. :-)

If you didnot understand what I just said on the swap
file, ignore it. Not doing this will not impact you
install, only performance down the road.

Actually, all legitimate Win2K CDs are bootable. Simply boot from
the Win2K installation CD. You'll be offered the opportunity to
delete, create, and/or format the system partition as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

The only legal Windows 2000 install CDs I have seen that
donot boot are the MSDN versions. They seemed to remedy
this with xp.

I always found that part of the MSDN annoying.
