Dear All,
I've had Win98 for a while and decided to install
Win2000 on the same computer as well and gradually move my
stuff across and then may be delete Win98. But I can't get
online in Win2k because:
1- the wizard looks in "com1" and doesn't detect my modem
which is in "com4";
2- when I go for the option of choosing from a list the
manufacturers of my modem (PCtel,Inc) are not listed in
Win2k's list (they are in Win98's list)
Basically I can't either show my modem to it or make it
see for itself!
I'd very much appreciate any suggestions for getting out
of this cul-de-sac.
Regards
ali

I've had the same problem. Try to find the manufacturers
website and see if they have a driver for your modem to
download. You can also try the website www.driverguide.com
they provide drivers to download for different versions of
windows.

Good luck...

You need the drivers supplied from the manufactor
or get a new modem supported by w2k.

Get the drivers and use the install new hardware wizard
instead of using the option of letting the wizard find the
hardware, choose the option of choosing from the list.
then point towards a generic modem, and get the drivers
from your disk.
