Win2K Chess or Checkers?

Sorry if this seems silly, but I enjoy the strategy...

Can someone recommend to me a reliable (stable) chess or checkers game for Windows 2000?

I'm partial to Microsoft software, but MS hasn't included checkers with Windows since
Win3.1.

I think Vista will have a chess game in it - but for now, you might try
asking this in microsoft.public.games to see if anyone there has any
suggestions. I haven't tried any third party games for ages, myself - and
I'd be wary of a lot of the "free" stuff, as it may not actually be free or
may contain malware.

Certainly, but I ask in the appropriate location. You might try looking
at the games groups represented at google.
