Win2k and Win98 - networked together

I am attempting to network a friends system. He wants
Win2k and Win98 in a direct connect (rj45) network. Both
are in the same Domain with different computer names.

Neither machine sees the other. Am I missing something?

I did it with ease from WinXP to Win98.

Are you using a crossover cable. Can they ping eachother by IP address?
