Hello all,
I've set up an AD server, in a branch site, as part of our migration to an
AD structure.
At this site I have a couple other machines already part of the AD
structure.
This AD server will also be a file server, with shared folders.
When browsing Network Place, however, this server doesn't appear in the
server list.
I can manually map a drive to one of the shares if I type in the UNC name
\\server_name\share_name, but I would like users to have the ability to
browse from file explorer to the shared folders as well.
All of the other systems in the AD structure appear in the Network
Neighborhood, just this one machine doesn't.
I suspect a registry setting or AD setting.
Anyone have any clues?

Thanks

I did check try using the NET CONFIG /HIDESERVER:NO command, but it had no
effect on the problem.

Thanks

Try running netdiag on that computer looking for any failed tests. It sounds like a
browse list problem of some sort. If you are using wins, double check that the wins
server address is correct. There are a lot of security options in W2003 but you are
able to map a drive which tells me it is probably not a smb signing issue etc.
Browse issues are such a headache. I wonder if one of the "anonymous" restrictions
could be causing a problem. The Windows 2003 Security Guide might be worth a peak at
security settings, etc. --- Steve

Thanks Steve.
This gives me good starting points to figure out what is going on.
