change my startup programs. CW
Neither CONFIG.SYS nor AUTOEXEC.BAT is used by NTx OSs.
(although autoexec.bat if it exists might be parsed...)
Please don't take offence, but I suggest you get one of the "xxx for
Dummys" books in order to learn some basics of your new operating
system. NT4/W2K/XP are _very_ different than good old DOS or even
W9x OSs.
Also the built-in HELP (Start, Help) has an "Introducing" section and
a link to "Getting Started" and "Tips for new users". I suggest the
"Getting Started" as a very good thing to read first.
Now, if you can be specific about the task you wish to accomplish,
some here can help. Note though, that this group
(microsoft.public.win2000.cmdprompt.admin) is for administration from
a command prompt and not a general OS help group.
In NTx system "startup programs" might be started in many different
ways. Services, drivers, registry keys, shortcuts in the Startup
Folders....
A msconfig.exe that runs on W2K can be found at
