I am a Medical Transcriptionist and work from home. We
had only 1 computer @home until my wife brought a
notebook home from work to perform some of her USMC
duties.

She needs to use the internet while Im working and XPhome
states that it has ICS capabilities, but the Win2000Pro
client notebook will not connect to the cable-supplied
internet connection through the XPhome host computer.

I've gone through all the troubleshooting that I can
technically understand, but the technical jargin is so
thick that I don't know what to do...Please help :) thank
you all.

How do you have the 2000 computer and XP computer physically connected?
With a network cable only? If so, do you know if it's a crossover cable?
Do you have a hub or a switch in between them? What do you use for
connecting to the Internet? Dial-up modem in the XP computer? An external
cable or DSL modem? If either of the latter, do you know if you have a
router in the mix?

The best solution is to get a broadband firewall/ router. Then plug both
pc's into it.
