I have an internet provider which unfortunately I can't
change, which disconnects after 1 hour. Upon attempting to
down load anything from microsoft updates which takes
longer an error message has appeared which says something
along the lines of download without using my usual dial up
and I speculate a direct dial up with microsoft, however
my search to find this link has been fruitless, does
anyone know anything about this, at all or alternatives
like recieving updates on CD? etc.

CRAIG-HAVE YOU TRIED USING YOUR WIN2000 NETWORKING
TOOLS? YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO MAKE A DIRECT CONNECT TO
MICROSOFT USING A WINDOWS 2000 SERVER CONNECTION TO
TUNNELL THRU THE INTERNET TO MICROSOFT DIRECTLY. CHECK
OUT YOUR NETWORKING HELP FILES OR THE 2000 USERS GUIDE BY
CLICKING START AND HELP AND YOU MAY BE SURPRISED AT HOW
MUCH INFO YOU FIND ON THIS MATTER--I NEVER HAVE QUITE
ENOUGH TIME TO SPEND READING/PRINTING ALL THE SUBJECTS
AVAILABLE ON THIS ISSUE--I SURE WISH YOU LUCK! ;-)

The problem seems to be that the ISP does not allow connections longer than
1 hour. A tunnelling connection to Microsoft still requires internet access,
therefore ISP.

Craig, you don't say why you have to stick with your ISP. Can you create
another dialup using another ISP, even if only on a temporary basis?
