I downloaded the SP Upgrade for Windows 2000 two weeks ago
and now everytime I try to go online my firewall shows the
following 3 files trying to access the interent:

services.exe
lsass.exe
spoolsvc.exe

This never happened prior to the SP upgrade.

What is happening and why?

Thank you
Steve

Hi Steve

- Services.exe is needed by Windows. This service is essential for almost
all networking on these Windows versions and must be set to Allow.

- Usually, you should block lsass.exe. It should only need network access
if you are running a Windows domain on your Local Area Network

More Info here:

- "What is lsass.exe, LSA Shell, LSASS, Local Security Authority System
Service":

- spoolsvc.exe should be blocked too, unless you have Network Printers. If
so, get some more Info on how to set up a policy for spoolsvc.exe.

This never happened prior to the SP upgrade.

These Files may have changed during the SP Ugrpade. Therefore, as it's not
the exactly same Files anymore, the Firewalls prompts you again, which is a
good idea.

NOTE: There are as well Trojans which have these names. So be sure to now
scan your whole System with an up to date Virus Scanner.

Scan you system for free here:

Hope this helps. Regards,
