Ok here goes. I tried installing XP Pro on a barebones
comp. and it wouldnt work I kept gettion Error Code #4
and with my research done it's probally due to the fact
that It's a burnt copy. So I tried installing 2000 Pro
witch is a Eval-copy straight from Microsoft, not burnt.
I'm getting the error: Line 155 of the INF file is
invalid. Setup cannot continue Press any key to exit.
Whats the problem?? I would appreciate some replys ASAP,
I've been trying so many diff. things since yesterday at
1pm. Thank You!!!!

To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 CD-Rom or setup disks.
The set of four install disks can be created from your Win2k CD-rom; change
to the \bootdisk directory on the cd-rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos)
or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

I dont need to make a boot disk I have a 98 one, I must
have not clairified enough I cant get to any options in
the setup like Create Partition or Repair that error
causes me to close before I get that far.

If a win98 boot disk is involved in your install attempt, that may be the
root of the problem. I posted my boiler plate install-reply since you
provided no details of your install method.
