hi

i have a small workgroup with 2 pcs, one on win2000 one on
98. The 98 can ping itself and the 2000. The 2000 cannot
ping the 98 but can ping....itself.

in 2000 i can find the 98 machine but cant access it and
get error message "Network path not found"

Cannot find 2000 in 98 network neighbour. (both have right
ip addys and on same workgroup and shares created on both
with users etc)

I have checked net card on 2000 and its working.

Any suggestions please and thanks for any help, have a
nice day.

Big Chief:
-Install TCP/IP networking protocols are installed on both
computers. Trying using fixed ip addresses.
-Install NetBEUI network protocols on both computers.
-Make sure that the all of the computers are in the same
workgroup.
-Enable file and print sharing is available on the
computers.
-Use Client for MS Networks for Win98 (not Winlogon).
-Create usernames and passwords identical to the id's and
passwords used on the Win98 machines. Give those id's
appropriate permissions on approriate files, printers,
etc...

Thats all that I can think of off the top of my head. I
know I repeated some of things that you covered but I
wanted to be sure that anyone reading the above would
cover all the steps. I have a similar environment set up,
and these were the steps I took so that the Win98 machines
could see the the Win2k machines in the network
neighborhood.
