Hi All,

I want to setup an LDAP server on my Win2000 Pro and Win98 SE drives.
From what I understand Outlook Express Address Book can act like an
LDAP server.

Is this true? Where can I find information on how to set it up?

Thanks for any help,

Charles

The Outlook Express (OE) Address Book cannot act like an LDAP server.

(A domain controller running) Active Directory can "speak" LDAP, answering
LDAP queries about the Active Directory, or querying LDAP servers. But it is
not primarily intended to be an LDAP server per se. I am less sure about
using Windows 2000 Professional or 98SE as an LDAP Server. Likewise, recent
versions of Outlook can query an LDAP server for address resolutions; I am
not sure about OE, but would be surprised if it could not.

You can find more information by querying the Knowledge Base on "LDAP" or
"LDAP server", thus:
ap+server&Query=ldap+server>.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for clearing this up. I mis-read the OE docs, OE can access an
LDAP server but not act as one. I will check out the link you posted.

Thanks,

Charles
