For some reason my Win2000 PC got disconnected from my home network.
I'm using a Linksys WRT54G router with 3 PC's connected.
A tower and a laptop both running WinXP and they connect with no problem.
But the third PC running Win2000 stopped connecting yesterday and I haven't
yet been able to figure out why.
Local Area Connection Status shows, after booting up, some packets being
sent, but 0 received. I'm guessing at bootup it attempts to send a couple
of packets but then stops.
I'm also running McAfee Anti-Virus with the firewall enabled on all
machines.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling my netcard which is on the mother
board, checked the network cable and tried using a USB network adapter to
see if I could get different results, but no luck so it appears to be a
software problem.
Any ideas?

Do you use DHCP on the Linksys? Are you getting an IP
address such as 192.168.nnn.nnn?

If you have an IP address on your network adapter try
disabling your firewall. Assuming the Linksys' firewall is
enabled, you should be OK long enough to run a test. If
that works you have to open up the firewall to allow the
the range of IPs on your home network to pass through the
firewall.

I use DHCP on the Linksys and on my other PC's, I get the 192.168.nnn.nnn
IPs, but on the PC in question, it's picking a an IP from elsewhere.

I tried that and even tried manually assigning an IP to the PC.
At that point it was able to be pinged, but still doesn't connect to the
Internet.
It only has some response to pinging but nothing else.
