Hi All:
Is there a way to add have system files on two different partitions?
I have run out of space on C:\winnt, but huge amount left on the second
drive D -- this si a second harddrive. Now when I want to install
sofware, specifically upgrading mozilla, that is looking to put files on
C:\winnt, I get the message that it is out of space.

I am thincking maybe somehow to set the path
%windir% = C:\winnt;D:\winnt
Is this possible or do I have to reinstall on the larger drive?

Thanks for all the help.

While you can't do that, here's some things to check;

Clean out your %windir%\Temp, and \Documents and Settings\%username%\Local
Settings\Temp directory. Delete the Temporary Internet Files, and History.
Do you have a disk defragmenter, if not get one and use it. You could use
Find|Files/ Folders and search the drive for; say files greater than 5mB and
then decide if they're needed. Check the %windir% directory for a
$NtServicePackUninstall$ directory, if your current service pack is stable
and you don't anticipate backing down, you can delete the dir. Also check
for the existence of User.dmp and Memory.dmp (both, by default should be in
the %windir% directory) you can delete these unless your going to send them
to the application vendor, or Microsoft for troubleshooting purposes. Other
options are; moving the pagefile to one of the other drives, uninstall your
programs that are installed in C:\Program Files and reinstall them to
D:\Program Files If you have a lot of local user profiles stored, you can
move them, see this article for info on this.

Your best long term way is to temp remove the D: drive,
purchase a new drive that will become your new c: drive,
put it in as a slave and mirror the drives.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;298155. Once the mirror has been created take the old
C: drive, make the new C: drive the master on the chain
and start up the PC again. You will be notified on startup
that the mirror has been broken - do you wish to proceede -
Yes you do... This will maintain all yor current
programs. You will then need to extend the c: partition on
the new C: drive to use/access the space that could not be
used when the mirror was created
