Is WIN 2000 the same as NT4.0? Can I delete NT and keep
the WIN 2000? If so, how do I get rid of NT? If I
upgraded to XP, will it get rid of the NT? Just don't
like NT. Can't run my games on NT.

Thanks

Windows 2000 is almost the same as NT4.0. Almost the same but not
quite... One of the main reasons why you can't play games on the trusty
NT workhorse is because NT does not support DirectX versions above 3.0.
Widows 2000 supports all DirectX versions, and plays games fairly well.
Windows 2000 has more of a Windows 98 look and feel to it and it is a
bit easier to maintain, especially on the hardware aspect. NT can be a
bitch with new hardware.

Windows XP is a new piece of Bubble Gum. Windows 2000 is the piece of
bubble gum you're chewing on, the only reason to get a new piece of
bubble gum is because the one you're chewing on has run out of flavour.
Somebody posted here or somewhere else a few days ago a comparison that
I thought quite to the point and gave me a chuckle... Windows XP is
Windows 2000 with a Luna look. NT4 is NT4, Windows 2000 is NT5, Windows
XP is NT5.1.

If you have Windows 2000 I hardly see any need to upgrade to XP. But I
don't understand your question, you either have NT4 or you have Windows
2000, you can't have both at once unless they are on separate partitions
then it wouldn't make a hill of beans of difference because you either
boot one or the other when you start the pc. If you upgraded NT4 to
Windows 2000 and you are unsatisfied with the results then you will have
to format and get rid of everything and start fresh with the Windows
2000 cd only. If it asks for the previous version for upgrade you stick
the old NT4 cd in the drive so it can see you have one, then take it out
again and continue with the Windows 2000 cd.
