Here are the symptoms of my problem in Windows 2000 installed PC.

1) From IE screen "HELP>About Internet Explorer"
shows "NO Version, NO Product ID" - absolutely blank

2) It does not display full contents of the screen for certain sites.

3) When I go to following sites (URL), the screen is absolutely blank.
they are,

http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx &
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx

4) I even re-installed IE6 from the setup screen, but no different.

Can anyboby give me hint that what is happening in my case?

"Internet Explorer "About" box is completely blank; Unable to type in text
boxes in websites".
And

"Internet Explorer 'About' box is empty".

Thanks for youe help Vincenzo,

I tried the command from the "RUN" panel and taken all 3 commands.

I did not have "error 96 Unspecified Error" in my About display
request.

Now, I find that "COPY & PASTE" from one window to another does not
work.

Any more ideas? I appreciate your help very much.

Start -> Run -> sfc /scannow -> OK.
And... reinstall IE: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318378.
That's good also for your Windows version.
Try also http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm

HTH.

Thanks again, Vincenzo!

I tried as you suggested but it still does not work.

Following is what I found while I was doing what you suggested.

1) I did "regedt32 sfc /scannow" and it requested original WIN2000 CD
and went okay.

2) When I tried "http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/" to apply all the
update as it suggested, it gave me blank screen under above URL.

3) I still proceeded with IEFIX from
"http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm" and completed after replying
CANCEL to request CD for I386

4) After all these my module IEXPLORE.EXE in "C:\Program File\Internet
Explorer" version shows as 6.00.2800.1106 with today's timestamp on
it.

Any more ideas, Vincenzo?

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Paul,
sorry, I'm out of ideas at the moment. I really hope someone here will have
some other suggestions.

I appreciate your help anyway.

Have a good day.

Hi Paul (and thanks for the feedback),
Two ideas: try to reinstall the Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000, if still no
joy reinstall Windows "in place" (direct upgrade).
Backup your documents before You proceed.

Hi, Vincenzo!

Thanks for another suggestion. I'll give a try. But it'll take a while
to let you know since I have lots of stuff to backup in this computer.
Otherwise I would not have bothered to repair in the first place.

I don't know how to thank you for your generous help.

I'll keep you posted.

Hi, Vincenzo!

Well..... To make long story short, I ended up re-installing Win2000
and others on a brand new hard disk. (I yanked the old hard disk out to
recover the my old documents and etc.)

Since Mouse Drag & drop did not work (and copy & paste), I could not do
too much. Also when I tried to get to the Microsoft Download site, it
gave me blank screen. Very strange...

Once again, I appreciate all your help.

Happy Easter, Bud!
