I have installed win2000 on a personal PC at home. I setup
some user accounts, and logged in. Now when I log in to my
administrator account, it has lost it administrative
properties?? The desktop items are locked down, certain
folders are inaccessible, and any item that is read only
can not be modified, leading me to believe that
administrator has been stripped down to a USER. In all
configuration menus, administrator is defined in the
administrator groups, has full control, full permissions
and etc... What is anyone's suggestion before I format the
machine?

When you say that you login to your administrator account do you mean The
built in local Administrator account, or an account that you created and
gave it administrator privledges. As far as folder shares go just because
you have admin priv. dose not automatically give access to folders unless it
has been configured. The exception is that Members of the Administrators
group which includes the built Administrator account can forcibly take
ownership of any folder or file. As an administrator you should be able to
set permissions on any folder or file, install drivers, configure
networking, and configure local security policys.

Well after research, and checking the error log, I
realized there was an error with the svchost.exe . So I
applied the security patch4 from microsoft, then the
symantec fix for the blaster worm/ So in reality is was a
worm virus! Thanx for the help!
