Hi. Hope someone can help.
My son's pc, running Win2000 has the following problems.
Cannot access any folders whatsoever, when we click on a folder, i.e My
documents, either from the desktop or from My Computer absolutely nothing
happens.
Cannot access temporary internet folders from IE properties> Tools> view
files.
CAN access programs, My computer and Control panel etc.CAN access files from
within program. i.e. File> open.

We reinstalled Windows but it still happens.

Also cannot UNinstall anything in Control Panel>Add/Remove software as a
window comes up saying ' Please insert CD of xxx in order to continue with
installation. (It'll take me forever to find all the CDs as don't know where
they are!)

Also cannot access Hotmail when clicking on the email link in MSN messenger,
Of course the first problem is the most important.

Ran McAfee Virus scan and spyscan but came up with none found.
Thanks
J

Check Event Viewer for errors. When you view the logged events in Event
Viewer (double-click them in the right-hand pane) in the upper right corner,
third button down is a copy to clipboard, then you can paste in the body of
a reply message.

Please do so for each of the different System Log events (that are a Type:
'Error' or 'Warning') since last boot so we can see all of the event detail.

Also check Device Manager for error codes and or non-starting devices.

Thanks for your time

Something that was installed doesn't play well with the operating system.
Not what you want to hear but usually a clean install is eventually in
order.
