Clues requested. Will happily answer additional questions for missing
info

Try switching the IP addresses to the 192.168.x.x private range.

The 192.198.x.x range is a public range, pieces of which are owned
throughout the world. A couple I found from whois searches on random
IP addresses in this range were the 'Latin American and Caribbean IP
address Regional Registry' and the 'University of Nebraska Medical
Center'.

Note: When I say switch the IP addresses, I mean the computers and the
router if it's managed and has an assigned IP, not the cable modem.
Leave the cable modem with the settings It's supposed to have according
to your ISP.

it would even be best to set the router to DHCP if you took it off and
let it assign the ip addresses automatically.

Three more questions on this please.....

If you change your computer name, do you have to call Bill Gates and
prove yet again that you didn't steal his precious OS via
re-re-re-re-reactivation? I have been told that you do and have been
told that you don't.... so..... who knows?

What is the command under Start/RUN: "net user guest /active:yes"

What is the command under Start/RUN: "control userpasswords2"

The reasons I ask all this is that the instructions tell you to
download and apply a registry patch and to run the two above mentioned
commands under the command prompt without telling you why or what will
happen if you do. I'm very uncomfortable doing anything without
knowing why I am being told to do so.
