FYI -- MS's website is offering build 1289 (RC1) to the public for free.
Fitz said:Will updates and patches for the RC versions stop once the "Gold" version is
released, making it necessary to purchase the retail version, or go back to
the 32 bit version, or will the RC be updated to the Gold upon release if
you have it installed? Will RC users be able to buy an "upgrade" vs the full
retail?

J. E. said:Hi !
I tried to install it, but I had to resign just at the beginning because no
64BIT SATA driver from the MB manufacturer was available .....
So I have to wait some time :-(
Good Luck !
Just said:Alas, I'm having issues with my A8V Deluxe /AMD 3500 installing this build.
It worked perfectly last time but now, during a virgin install, I'm getting
a BSOD/IRQ_Less_than error. Ugh.

and what SATA chip are you connected to?
There are 64-bit drivers for most of the SATA chips!
J. E. said:The motherboard is an ASROCK K8S8X.
Sorry, I don't know the chip-type
Have a nice day !
Have you done any research or tried to find drivers and stuff? Do you
have the manual for your board?
I discovered that if you either read the manual or go to the Asrock web
site you will discover exactly what is on your board. Primarily it has
a SiS chipset and they have 64-bit drivers listed on their site:
http://download.sis.com/index.php
You will also be able to exchange information with others that have your
same board if you go to the Windows newgroups, which has information and
a link on the x64 web site.
If you're new to computers, you need to do a little homework and learn
about computers or you will be sorely disappointed when things don't go
right.
I know I could provide you with all the information, but you're the one
that needs to learn.

When I was asked during the XP64-istallation to load the 64-bit
SATA-driver, I could not provide it in that moment.
This happened about a month ago when the PC was brand-new.. As I
needed the new PC, I changed my mind and installed again my 32 BIT
XP.
But I will use DUAL boot then ....
