Hi - Windows XP Pro refuses to shutdown properly for the
past 2 weeks: it goes to "Saving Your Settings" and
freezes there.
I have gone through all the troubleshooting list
(disabling items from MsConfig) one-by-one, but even
the "TroubleShooter gave Up".

Thanks for any possible solution

Tony B.

Do you have Norton's Antivirus 2003/2004 installed? I recall seeing a post somewhere with a similar problem and the answer was to with NAV.

Thanks for the hint Peter. I uninstalled NAV2000, but the
problem remained. I will try to uninstall all of Norton's
Utilities, including Internet Security, and see from
there.

Finally, I have found the solution to the problem:
for all those suffering the same fate:
The problem was in the BIOS.
open the BIOS at BootUp/go to Intergrated Peripherals/
DISABLE: USB Keyboard Support.Save and Exit
That should do the trick!
