I have workgroup network of 9 PCs, 2 WinME, 6 Win98SE and
1 WinXP Pro.
HP LJ 2300dtn is connected via USB to a Win98SE PC. WinXP
can`t install driver for the printer, no problems noticed
from other PC's.
I have read the KB314073 Article which describes the
problem,
(the message "The server on which the device name printer
resides does not have the correct printer driver
installed. If you want to install the driver on your
local computer, click OK.")

but the solution of installing manually the drivers or to
avoid the port by manually changing from local to network
failed. It is, for now, impossible to switch to WinXP or
2000 at the PC to which the printer is connected, or to
switch the printer to the network on its own.

Any suggestions??

Thanx!

On the XP machine, install the printer driver by adding the printer as a
local printer (uncheck "Automatically detect the printer").
Once you've done that, delete the network/shared pritner and then add it
back.
Set the newly created network printer as the default printer.
Does it work now?

If not, please post your issue in this newsgroup:
