When I use Winows Explorer and attempt to open My
Pictures it gives the following error message

Win Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I can still view and move etc the picture files using
other image software but this is not as efficient as
moving etc and viewing them with Explorer.

Do you happen to have Adobe PhotoShop or
Elements installed?

If you do...right click on a .jpg file and choose
Properties. Click the Photoshop Image tab
and uncheck the "Generate Thumbnails" button,
then click OK.

Unfortunately no, the only Adobe software is the Reader.
Some other information I left out. It seems to be
directory dependant ie My Pictures in My Documents opens
fine, but Shared Pictures in the All Users directory is
the one that fails to open. It did previously open but no
longer. It is a large directory with about 4GB of data. I
have done a disk repair etc just in case that was the
problem but no improvement.
